Ufny-leszek Czy Mieszek

Much has been made of the chaos that plagues Japan earthquake, tsunami and the nuclear alarm. I want to dedicate this post at 50 nuclear plant workers Fukushima, who watch because reactors do not go to waste. These soldiers are exposed to estimated 250-Sv radiation ; that X-rays and electrons, is equal to 250 Gy. For those who do not drive the whole subject, from 50 Gy appear bone marrow damage in the unit digestive and nervous system, coma and death safe short or medium term. A terrible death, including vomiting and bleeding.

These 50 people have sacrificed for their country voluntarily , not in senseless wars led by a fanatical sense of honor, but when it really has been indispensable. Frankly, the fact they took this decision overwhelms me and leaves equally admired. I feel the same as when a pregnant woman refuse treatment without which they survive, to ensure that the fetus is not harmed . What leads a person to deliver his life in a way so altruistic? What sense of duty may overcome the instinct for survival? Is it anger or Thanatos is leading us to self-destruction? Would we be able others to do something similar?
